(July 29, 2026 – New York, NY) – Out of the Box Theatrics (Liz Flemming, Founding Artistic Director) in association with Bella Vita Entertainment, Dru Margolis, and Red Horse LLC, is pleased to announce breakout TikTok singer/songwriter and recording artist Oliver Richman will join the cast as Jonah in the Off-Broadway premiere of Soon, a new musical by Nick Blaemire (Broadway: Glory Days; Off-Broadway: Safety Not Guaranteed, Space Dogs), directed by Will Blum (Broadway: Beetlejuice, The School of Rock - The Musical, The Book of Mormon).

Richman rose to prominence through his "song-a-day" project, earning widespread recognition on social media. Since 2024, the singer-songwriter has written more than 900 songs, including such massive hits as “The Ballad of Phil and Phyllis" and "Bunnies." Richman will celebrate his 1,000th song just days before taking the stage as Jonah.

“I’m so freaking honored and excited to join this company,” says Richman. “I got to see Soon when it was at the East Village Basement last year (with Nicholas Podany, one of my biggest creative inspirations, playing Jonah) and I left so moved. I’ve been super afraid of performing, so it feels serendipitous now to get to learn from a story and creative team that inspires me to love harder and be braver. Nick Blaemire’s musical stayed with me in a way that I’m just excited I get to experience it every night as a fan.”

Additional cast and creative team will be announced at a later date. The six-week strictly limited engagement begins performances on Wednesday, September 30 at The Loft at St. Luke’s Theatre (308 West 46th Street, Third Floor). Nick Blaemire's Soon is an intimate, indie-pop chamber musical about finding the courage to pursue your dreams in an uncertain world.

Soon will appear as part of OOTB’s Loft Series and Custom Work Program. Out of the Box Theatrics’ Loft Season is a new developmental production series that offers artists a vital next step for emerging works and new ideas, providing the opportunity to present and refine their stories in front of New York City audiences. Featuring limited production elements in an intimate and immersive environment, the series embraces a story-first approach that prioritizes artistic development and inspires creative solutions to theatrical storytelling.

Soon was developed and premiered at Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA in 2015. The New York City pilot production was presented at the East Village Basement in October 2025.

BIOGRAPHIES

OLIVER RICHMAN (Jonah) is a singer-songwriter and actor. He graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2022 and launched a song-a-day challenge (@olivesongs11) in January of 2024. Nearly 1000 songs later, his work has gained worldwide recognition with songs like “The Ballad of Phil and Phyllis” and “Bunnies.” He has collaborated with dozens of artists and continues to find new ways of connection through songwriting and building community. The grandson of legendary songwriter, Ron Miller, Oliver was invited by Stevie Wonder to share the stage when he was 10 years old. He returns to Joe’s Pub in New York City on September 26 to celebrate Song-a-Day 1000 after a sold-out performance there in 2025. He is repped by CAA. Website: oliverrichman.com. NICK BLAEMIRE (Book, Music, Lyrics) is a Brooklyn-based writer and actor. He is honored to be working with Out of the Box Theatrics to bring Soon Off-Broadway, after a sold-out run at the East Village Basement last fall. Nick has also written the book, music and lyrics for August Rush (Old Globe spring 2027, with Tom Kitt), Life of Newman (with Randy Newman), Safety Not Guaranteed (BAM, Signature Theatre, with Guster's Ryan Miller), Space Dogs (MCC, Other Palace London, with Van Hughes), Glory Days (Circle in the Square Broadway, with James Gardiner), Disney’s Descendants (2500 productions around the world), A Little More Alive (Williamstown, Barrington Stage, KC Rep), Edge of the World (with Ethan Slater), Quixote (with Daniel J. Watts) and Fallout (with Kyle Jarrow). Nick has released three pop albums, all available online. As an actor, he recently played Adolph Green in Bradley Cooper's Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro for Netflix, followed by a live run of A Party with Comden and Green at the Carlyle. WILL BLUM (Director) most recently directed Space Dogs at The Other Palace in London, where he previously directed the UK premiere of Bonnie & Clyde. Off-Broadway premieres of Nick Blaemire’s Soon at the East Village Basement, and Pedro Antonio Garcia’s The Witness Room at AMT. Training from The Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Pontedera, Italy. BFA from The Boston Conservatory. WILEY DEWEESE (Music Supervisor) is a New York-based music director, arranger, orchestrator, conductor and keyboardist. On Broadway, he has served as music director and co-orchestrator for The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, associate music director for Girl From the North Country, and as a substitute conductor for The Band’s Visit and Amélie. Off-Broadway, he has served as music director for Whisper House (The Civilians), The Lucky Ones (Ars Nova), and The Wildness (Ars Nova). He also played keyboards for the premieres of Preludes (LCT3) and First Daughter Suite (Public). Since 2018, Wiley has served as the music supervisor/orchestrator for the Michael Friedman Recording Project, which aims to preserve the works of the late, great composer Michael Friedman. To date, the project has released studio cast albums of The Abominables, This Beautiful City, The Great Immensity, (I am) Nobody’s Lunch, and Paris Commune, all available on Sh-k-boom/Ghostlight records.

ANDY COLLOPY (Music Director). Andy Collopy's extensive credits as a music director include the national tour of Daniel Fish’s Tony Award winning production of Oklahoma! and the regional premiere of a new chamber version of Jane Eyre at Theatre Raleigh, starring Julie Benko and Matt Bogart. Most recently, he music-directed the new musical Peripheral, as part of the inaugural season of the Newport NewWorks Musical Theatre Festival, and the NAMT Festival presentation of Particle by Derek Gregor and Selda Sahin. In 2025, Andy was the associate music director of both Frozen and the world premiere of Take The Lead at Paper Mill Playhouse. His other work as an associate MD includes such productions as The Lightning Thief on Broadway, the Off-Broadway production of Daddy Long Legs, and the Toronto world premiere of Sousatzka. Andy is passionate about the development of new musicals and has worked extensively on readings and workshops of new works, including music directing shows through such organizations as the NAMT Festival of New Musicals, the Newport NewWorks Festival, and the ASCAP Grow and Show and Stephen Schwartz workshops.

Out of the Box Theatrics was founded in 2016 by Liz Flemming, a legally blind artist, to create space for artists who have been historically underrepresented and undervalued. The company was designed to create intimate storytelling experiences that are as varied as the multitude of artists it employed in order to create a more inclusive and equitable theatre industry.  OOTB earned recognition for its critically acclaimed streaming co-production of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last 5 Years (New York Times’ Critics Pick, 2021 Drama League Nominee for Outstanding Digital Theater, 2022 Antonyo Award winner for Best Digital Theater Production), and its new productions of the 1983 Broadway musical Baby (2022 Drama Desk Award nominee, Outstanding Revival of a Musical) and the 2005 Off-Broadway musical, See What I Wanna See (three 2025 Drama Desk Award nominations, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical). OOTB was awarded an Obie Award for their 2024 season at Theater 154. The company recently found its home in the theatre district, signing a ten-year lease with St. Luke’s Theatre on 46th Street. OOTB’s first production at St. Luke’s Theatre was a transfer of Beau the Musical (ten 2026 Drama Desk nominations, Outstanding Musical).
