Greetings from India Foundation for the Arts (IFA)!
Join us for our upcoming MaathuKathe/Conversations on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 07:00 PM with Kanaka Murthy who will talk about her experiences and insights as a woman sculptor in India, in a male-dominated domain. Her sculptures, carved in stone and bronze, depict poets, musicians, and Hindu gods and goddesses. She will discuss her creative journey and relationship with sculpture, as one of the country's few traditional woman sculptors to have her images worshipped in temples; the styles and artistic form and medium of sculpture; the iconography and symbolism of her works in stone; and her inspirations.
