About: At just 22, Milan-born pianist Isa Trotta is emerging as one of Italy’s brightest young talents. A graduate of the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where she studied with Lilya Zilberstein and Andrea Lucchesini, she has performed with ensembles including the Milano Classica Orchestra and the S. Moniuszko Philharmonic and appeared at festivals such as Piano City Milano and Rome’s Orto Botanico. Winner of numerous international prizes, Trotta is acclaimed for her technical brilliance and expressive artistry.

In this concert, she joins the SOI Chamber Orchestra as soloist in Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert will also feature SOI’s cellist Sherali Mukhanbetkali performing Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1.

Synopsis: Loosely based on THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare, A PERFECT TIME TO PANIC is a musical tale of an environmentalist struggling to be heard, who is banished and eventually sentenced to be executed for being an inconvenience. He escapes with his family and settles on an island, where they prepare for the impending apocalypse while reducing their carbon footprint. But when it becomes impossible for the world to ignore the climate crisis, he becomes the man of the hour when he least wants to, and the lifestyle and paradise he has created comes under threat.

Synopsis: Lysistrata is an ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes, originally performed in classical Athens in 411 BC. It is a comic account of a woman's mission to end the Peloponnesian War between Greek city-states by denying all the men of the land any sex, which was said to be the only thing they truly and deeply desired. Lysistrata persuades the women of the warring cities to engage in a sex strike as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace – a strategy that inflames the battle between the sexes.

For selections, preference will be given to participants with experience working on stage (⅔ professional productions, or intercollegiate) or at least having gone through drama school training. Film/camera work is valid but not a necessity.
