उच्छाद (Ucchhad) is a Marathi translation of

Tony Award winner Yasmina Reza's play ".

God of Carnage!

The play, translated by scientist, playwright, and actor

Niranjan Pedanekar, portrays a meeting between two couples over the peaceful and civil resolution of a minor altercation between their sons. The meeting slowly but surely escalates into different shapes and sizes of violence, tearing apart the veils of civility, and exposing the conflict that lies at the heart of human coexistence.

This adaptation sets the play in an urban India, where the boundaries of social prejudices such as gender, class and caste are casually visible. The play is full of subtle humour that plays on social rituals and the need to keep up appearances. It is produced by Rakhadi Studio and Amey Gosavi and is directed by Anupam Barve featuring Sayalee Phatak, Siddhesh Dhuri, Tanvi Kulkarni and Niranjan Pedanekar as the on stage characters.

The opening shows of the play will be performed on 12th and 13th November, 7:30 PM at The Base, Erandwane.

'उच्छाद' हे नाटक यास्मिना रेझा यांच्या ‘गॉड ऑफ कार्नेज’ या प्रसिद्ध फ्रेंच नाटकाचा निरंजन पेडणेकर यांनी केलेला मराठी अनुवाद आहे. आपल्या मुलांनी केलेल्या किरकोळ भांडणाचा गुंता सभ्यपणे सोडवावा यासाठी एका जोडप्यानं दुसऱ्या जोडप्याला घरी बोलावलं आहे. पण ही बैठक हळूहळू एका वेगळ्याच दिशेनं जाऊन सभ्यतेचे बुरखे कसे फाडते, याचं चित्रण या नाटकात आहे. हे नाट्यरुपांतर शहरात वसलेलं असून पुरुषप्रधान संस्कृती, वर्ग-जात याबद्दलचे पूर्वग्रह, समाजसुधारणेचा दिखावा आणि शिष्टाचाराचा उथळपणा यांवर नर्मविनोदातून भाष्य करतं. नाटक राखाडी स्टुडिओ व अमेय गोसावी यांची निर्मिती असून अनुपम बर्वे यांनी त्याचं दिग्दर्शन केलं आहे. या नाटकात सायली फाटक, सिद्धेश धुरी, तन्वी कुलकर्णी व निरंजन पेडणेकर यांच्या प्रमुख भूमिका आहेत. नाटकाचे शुभारंभाचे प्रयोग १२ व १३ नोव्हेंबर रोजी संध्याकाळी ७३० वाजता द बेस, एरंडवणे येथे होणार आहेत.
