"SMALL," written by and starring Robert Montano, will play a return NYC engagement at The Pershing Square Signature Center. Previews begin on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, with the opening night set for Thursday, May 28, 2026. Tickets are available today at Ovation Tix.


This production traces Montano's deeply personal journey from childhood dreams of becoming a jockey to ultimately finding his voice and identity dancing on Broadway in shows like On the Town, Cats, and Kiss of the Spider Woman opposite Chita Rivera.

He would endure anything and sacrifice everything just to touch the turf. Yet, he quickly discovered the high expectations and impossible standards that come with a life in the saddle.

The production features scenic design by Christopher and Justin Swader, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, sound design by Brian Ronan, and properties by Buffy Cardoza. The Production Stage Manager is Karen Schleifer, and the Assistant Stage Manager is Lisa Klages Calhoun. Advertising and marketing are managed by The Pekoe Group.


"SMALL" is produced by two-time Tony Award winner Ted Snowdon. General management is by Roy Gabay, and the company manager is Chris Blasting.


Venue Information


The Pershing Square Signature Center, the permanent home of Signature Theatre, is a three-theatre facility on West 42nd Street designed by Frank Gehry Architects. It hosts Signature's three distinct playwrights' residencies and fosters a cultural community.
