A Lub Story by Farben Theatre !
Farben Theater staged a A Lub Story written by the acclaimed writer Uday Prakash on 14th August at The Box, Pune.
The play had a musical tone with vivid background score which takes you to 1980's India. It builds a picture of " India lives in its villages" through its music. A Lub story based on story "Ram Sajeevan Ki Prem Katha" written by Uday Prakash traces the story of Anita Chandiwala and Ram Sajeevan who is studying at a university. Ram Sajeevan is powerfully portrayed by Kumar Lalu.

Anita Chandiwala is his flame in college and his obsession. We see the influence of best writers of the era Hindi writer Ageya, Pablo Neruda and Communist intellectuals in his though process and dialogues. He also writes essays to see the future of society as a caste-less society. Also, a society where the middle class is constantly progressing. A complex personality to have opened the play. But, all his struggles to reach economic stability and mental stability is met with countless struggles. Various groups of students and student union leaders have formed at the university who move around him sometimes mocking him sometimes worshiping him.

Anita Chandiwala brings charm and softness to the chaotic and powerful narrative of the play. She sometimes reciprocates Ram Sajeevan's feelings , sometimes she is just fiction.
The character of Guru enchants you with his poetic and powerful delivery and bonding nature. Raja Babu plays caricature character yet strong willed personality, who shows his support for all "good causes" Shirish is a passionate and powerful leader who loves taking slogans and inciting crowds to action. Inaction is not in his blood. The watchman loves to tease the young students played funnily and is a mix of funny and seriousness. Aslam loves to respond to inciting by the student leader and add fuel to the fire and going poetic. Parth (actual name) brings innocence on stage. Tanmay (actual name) is powerful, cunning and a trouble maker. Ruparna (actual name) is a good friend and convincingly portrays a wide range of emotions. Payal (actual name) convinces you with her wide gestures. Arya (actual name) keeps you hooked with her little girl image. Kailash (actual name) has the hilarious and earnest expressions. Harsh (actual name) keeps cunningness alive in his expressions. Shubhankar (actual name) is deep and sonorous. The crowd scene by the young actors of Farben Theatre was realistically portrayed. A lot of new personalities and caricature emerged. The music built a village like milieu. The play also showed protest and brutality by police on the students. In between all these chaos the students would often break into song and laughter. Showing the earnest and unserious nature of young students. Who take both pleasure and pain with equal gusto.
Ram Sajeevan's love interest Anita Chandiwala was convincingly portrayed. Anita is a student at the university who is the love of Ram Sajeevan. With interesting twist and turns, the play unfolds to show that Anita is a fiction in Ram Sajeevan's mind.
There are also scenes showing the conflict amongst students where they come to blows. Realistically portrayed. The play is a must watch for its powerful and realistic presentation of an era which is visiting us today!
The production is constantly growing with each show and strong performers are coming out. The play is a powerful direction by Dev Chakraborty at Farben Theatre. He is also directing Waiting for Godot and San 2025 at Farben Theatre.
