WORKSHOP 1
INTENSIVE ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON FILM-MAKING FOR
THEATER
Filmmaking for theatre is a middle ground, a space of intersection, a world suspended between different languages, aims, and rules, between art and documentation, technological and artistic work. That’s the “land” we will investigate in a one-day practical workshop. Participants will have the chance to work on a small task as filmmakers, from the beginning to the end of the process.
The aim is to have an overview and to discover the basic rules of filming theatre/live performance.
Topics to be covered:
Shooting movement: The actor and the camera in a theatrical performance. Relationship with examples:
Editing: how to cut and why. To follow and break the rules.
Live performance shooting: What is alive? Discussion with participants.
The workshop would end with a discussion with the participants. The workshop is for students, artists and filmmakers interested in the techniques of filming within the context of live performances.
Participants are requested to get their own camera and laptop. Editing Software to be used is Premiere Pro CC 2017/2018.
